As a Hispanic legend, La Llorona has many versions that vary from least scary to avoid her at all costs. She also is said to appear in many forms, from a skeleton to a horse-faced creature similar to the Siguanaba of similar legend. Below are the list of locations where La Llorona has been sighted: Ciudad Juarez, Mexico Ciudad Juarez, a border city with a complex history of violence and cultural richness, is inextricably connected with the legend of La Llorona. The Rio Grande (known locally as Rio Bravo) is the location where her ghost apparitions are said to occur, and where her screams are heard piercing the night. As of 2025 it is undergoing a major revival and renovation attempt, but it is still closed. Due to its location, the restaurant was a tourist spot since it was built right alongside the border with Mexico and is the exact area where the Spanish Conquistadors had the first Thanksgiving in the Americas. It was also one of the locations where Fort Bliss was at the time, with the original buildings still standing just across the street from the restaurant. Due to its location, La Hacienda Restaurant is rumored to be haunted by various spirits, with one that is a legend in Mexico, La Llorona. Various political figures in the country’s history have at one point been laid to rest here before being moved to other areas. The city even has its own legends on its own, with one being known internationally and I will mention down below. Ciudad Juarez also carries the infamous moniker of being the location of a major radioactive disaster, with aging medical equipment having been improperly disposed of as the cause. These scary thoughts alone can keep anyone up at night, with them wondering how such things could happen in one small area. I did not even state the various disappearances of women that have happened in the city, as this was overshadowed by the cartel killings that happened afterwards. Still, the thought of a woman suddenly disappearing would most likely point out a serial killer on the loose or worse, a satanic cult that may have been active in Ciudad Juarez for a long time. Another notable association that El Paso has is the paranormal, thanks to its various haunted locations. There are so many haunted places in the city, that thanks to the authors Ken Hudnall and Connie Wang, they are now well documented in a book series named Spirits of the Border . It is a city is filled with a vibrant Tex-Mex culture and history and full of day to day activities one can enjoy. It has iconic locations such as The Alamo and just a few blocks from it, the San Antonio River Walk. It has a Six Flags location, Sea World, Undergroung caverns, and many other sites to visit. It also has many haunted locations, the most famous being The Alamo itself, due to the historical battle that happened there during the Texas Revolution.  Hundreds of brave Texans died in that battle, and there are reports that their spirits still roam the area. A spirit similar to Bloody Marie or the Irish Banshee, La Llorona has been a subject of dares and campfire stories for centuries, even having versions in all of the Americas. La Llorona is a very well known figure in folklore and there are many versions of the tale, but most follow the same premise. Here is the premise of the legend, which goes as followed: Back in the old days there used to be a beautiful young woman named Maria. She was well known in the town but lived in poor conditions, which was common at the time. Soon a handsome rich man entered the town and Maria immediately fell in love with him.
