As the capital of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, this city has been the sight of many historical events within its borders and outside. Various political figures in the country’s history have at one point been laid to rest here before being moved to other areas. The city even has its own legends on its own, with one being known internationally and I will mention down below. The other areas of the city are also interesting in nature, as they border from actual hauntings to mere legends surrounding its neighborhoods.

La Popular

The most well-known legend in the city of Chihuahua is also one of the creepiest, as it involves a mannequin of a bride that looks too realistic known as “La Pascualita”. The origins of this story date back to the 1930s, when the mannequin was first unveiled and people noticed how similar she was to the daughter of the shopkeeper, who succumbed to a black widow bite not long prior. The anatomical details of the mannequin looked like those of an actual body, which added to the theory that it was the corpse of the deceased daughter. The mannequin was seemingly rumored to have been replaced with a copy. This took place after an exhibition of Mexican legends, which may have secretly uncovered the truth of the infamous “La Pascualita” being a corpse this entire time. Back when the supposed corpse was still there, it was said that her eyes would follow those who walked by the shop.

Cerro Grande

In the mountain south of the city called Cerro Grande, there is said that two flags would greet hikers before a Chinese temple manifests before their eyes. They then would lose all sense of balance before ancient Chinese troops would capture them, never to be seen again. Though this version of the story sounds far-fetched, there is some truth to it due to a ruined house located still standing on the mountain range. Legend says that a Chinese immigrant family lived on the mountain but all of them were massacred by bandits and now their souls roam the abandoned property. There are also legends of mines that lead to other dimensions full of wealthy minerals for anyone who finds it.

Lomas de Santuario House

It is said that the ruins of this house are haunted by the spirit of a child who perished there due to a fire that broke out in the property sometime in the 1980s. Soon after her death, the child’s parents also committed suicide in the area and may also be seen haunting the property. The house is also a hotspot for satanic rituals and officially it is closed to the public.

La Casona

A mansion located in downtown Chihuahua City is said to be haunted by the spirit of a young child. The child is said to have died by a stray bullet and is now seen roaming the rooms of the property. The location is now used as a luxurious restaurant, but the boy is said to roam the second floor of the property.

Calle 13

The spirit of a would-be bride is said to haunt this street, forever waiting for her husband to return. Legend says that she was the bride of a Mexican soldier and went to El Paso to buy her dress. When she came back, she heard news that her husband had passed away, either due to a battle in the Mexican Revolution or had disappeared. Heart stricken, she passed away and her ghost roams the streets at night.
