Facundo and the Graveyard Girl

Back in the early 2000s, Mexican television was home to some wild and irreverent shows, and Incógnito stood out as one of the most memorable. Hosted by the bold and humorous Facundo Gómez Bruera (better known simply as Facundo), the program aired on Canal 5 and featured hidden camera pranks, absurd challenges, and segments that pushed the boundaries of entertainment. Though the show has long been cancelled, one particular segment from around 2005-2006 continues to haunt viewers and spark debates: Facundo's chilling encounter with what appeared to be a ghostly girl in a cemetery.
The Setup: A Dare Gone Spooky
Incógnito was known for its mix of comedy and chaos, but this episode took a darker turn. Facundo, ever the daredevil, decided on a whim to venture into a Mexico City cemetery after 1 AM to "prove" whether ghosts existed. According to Facundo himself in later interviews, this wasn't part of the planned filming that day. He told his production team, who stayed outside the gates, that the show needed something more exciting. Armed only with a camera equipped with night vision, he entered the graveyard alone, taunting any spirits to show themselves.
As he wandered among the tombstones, the atmosphere was tense. Facundo's usual cocky demeanor cracked a bit as he called out challenges like, "If there's anything here, get inside me, prove it!" The video captures eerie silence punctuated by strange noises—some later analyzed as a woman's voice singing faintly in the background and even the sound of a calf lowing, which seemed out of place in an empty cemetery at night.
The Encounter: From Skeptic to Screamer
About three minutes into the footage, Facundo spots a shadowy figure sitting on a tombstone. Thinking it might be a cat or something mundane at first, he approaches cautiously, asking, "Who's there?" As he gets closer, the figure—a girl dressed in white—turns her head toward him, her eyes glowing unnaturally in the night vision. The moment is pure terror: Facundo lets out a scream, drops any pretense of bravery, and bolts for the exit, yelling for his team to catch up.
The girl doesn't move or speak; she just stares with those piercing, reflective eyes. Facundo later described feeling genuine fear, insisting he couldn't see clearly without the camera's night shot and that the production couldn't have set it up since the idea was impromptu.
Real or Hoax? The Ongoing Debate
Years after the episode aired, the "graveyard ghost" segment became a viral sensation on YouTube and social media, often cited as one of the most convincing paranormal captures on TV—or one of the cleverest hoaxes. Facundo has maintained in interviews that it was real, emphasizing that he's done plenty of stunts for ratings but this one defies explanation. He even returned to the cemetery the next day with his team, but found no trace of the girl.
Skeptics point to possible montages or pranks by outsiders, while believers highlight anomalies like a mysterious male silhouette in the background and the inexplicable animal sounds. In a 2020 interview on the YouTube show La Cotorrisa, Facundo admitted he still hasn't found a logical answer, saying, "The production stayed outside; for ratings, I've done many stupid things."
Legacy of the Ghost Girl
This segment marked a shift for Facundo, who, despite his prankster reputation, has avoided paranormal topics since. It remains a staple in discussions of Mexican TV lore and supernatural evidence, with clips racking up millions of views online. Whether you believe it's a genuine ghost or a masterful bit of showbiz, one thing's certain: Facundo's run from the graveyard ghost is etched in pop culture history.
