Just outside Tombstone lies Boothill Graveyard, the final resting place of many victims and outlaws from the mining days. The graveyard itself is notorious for having many people buried with their boots still on, hence the name Boothill, but this isn’t the only thing that gives the property notoriety. In an infamous photo, A cowboy cosplayer wanted to take a photo on the property, but didn’t notice that a bystander was peeking out from one of the graves. This isn’t the only instance of a ghost appearing in photos or hauntings for that matter, since many specters roam its parts. One specter, known as China Mary, is said to roam the graveyard in a red dress. China Mary, suspected to be a business woman named Sing Choy, who was owner of Tombstone’s supply store and an opium distributor. She passed away in 1906 and is said to be the lady observed roaming around the property. Another notable ghost is that of Billy Clanton, who was one of the gunslingers killed at the O.K. Corral. It is said that Clanton likes to patrol both the place where he was killed and where he was buried. Apart from specters, there has also been evidence of a disembodied voice coming from an unmarked grave that has been documented by a journalist investigating the hauntings in Boothill Graveyard. What also makes this location unique is that the hauntings happen during daytime, something that is unusual when it comes to paranormal activity. On a personal note, the graveyard itself is also worth visiting because of its history and scenery.
