El Paso has many ghosts and phantoms, its most infamous being the El Paso High cheerleader spirit. There are other notable spirits that make the city their home, but some prefer to haunt roads instead. In the northeast part of town there is a highway known as Transmountain road, which goes through Castner Range National Monument and the Franklin Mountains State Park. In this highway, a hooded monk can be seen walking with a donkey at late hours at night. He is said to cause accidents in the road and is also said to have no face. This is not the only place the monk has been seen as he also appears along the Patriot freeway on the outskirts of the city. This is not the only phantom seen in this road as a faceless woman is said to appear in the darkest hours of the night on the Canutillo side of the Franklin Mountains. This female ghost can be heard shrieking in terror and would scare those who would have the misfortune of seeing her.
