Formerly an elementary school named after Sam Houston, this building closed its doors due to lack of student influx and district wide cuts. I actually attended this school myself, and know a thing or two about its hauntings. When it was Houston Elementary, the entire area consisted of four main buildings, but when it was closed, it lay abandoned for some time until it was repurposed. The former Elementary school became part of the district’s early college and the buildings were then separated into two entirely new learning institutions, one being a disciplinary facility named Raymond Telles Academy and the other an early college and pre-school named CCTA. The school that is now known as Raymond Telles Academy is no stranger to hauntings, as police have responded to break-ins late at night from its Houston days, only to find the premise who went there would report ghostly voices and people walking in empty halls. There are reports of the ghost said to haunt the first floor and can be heard giggling and running around. This spirit is said to be an African American girl who passed away decades ago, but she isn’t the only ghost lurking around. It is also said that a security guard who died in the premises also haunts the building and ensures that the property remains safe from trespassers. A shadow figure or a man dressed in a black suit has been observed by one of the former school secretaries, something that brought her to tears. Another spirit of a former vice principal is rumored to haunt the third floor of the premises. While the vice principal apparition is only a rumor and isn’t as documented, it would be interesting to confirm this even further.
